What I do when I meet one of my heros

I love, love, love, love Chewbacca. Can you tell?  I can’t really explain my obsession. He’s just this great character that makes me really happy. Every convention I go to, I get a picture with as many Chewbacca cosplayers as I can find.

Dapper Chewie was one of my favorites. It was my profile picture on Facebook for a really long time.  Also, that storm trooper is just fantastic.

This is the most recent Chewie. I didn’t see as many this year as I did the year before.

At the 2013 Salt Lake Comic Con, I met Peter Mayhew. You know that “fan girl” moment we all have when we see celebrities? I had that so bad. It was like “OH MY GOD! I AM GOING TO CRY!” because I was so utterly excited. I stood in line and thought of things to say to him. It was right before his surgery, so I  thought about saying, “Good luck!”, or even just saying something stupidly simple like, “I’m a huge fan”. But what I ended up saying to him when it was finally my turn was….

Absolutely nothing.

I was too much of a fan girl to even say a word. I might have mumbled a “Hi!” but I’m fairly certain it wasn’t even intelligible. We took the picture and went on my way.

Hopefully, one of these days I’ll get a do-over and I’ll actually talk to him.

But seriously, have you seen his twitter? He is always posting these adorable pictures that I just love.

What are some of your fan girl moments?

Salt Lake Comic Con FanX 2014

FanX was so much fun!
Star Wars stuff is always my favorite.

This was taken right after R2D2 scared my 3 year old half to death….

My Bestie went to Sir Patrick Stewart’s panel and was able to snap some pictures during the allotted time. (Funny side story. We were huddled in a crowd around Sir Patrick’s autograph booth and one of the guards said to me, “It looks like you’re about to cry.” because I literally was about to cry, I was so excited.)

Sonic! I helped make this costume!

Chanel in front of the mini TARDIS

And of course… More Star Wars.
I’m still combing through different albums trying to find more pictures of Allie and I – I know that at least a few people got pictures of us together and I’d love to have them to show you guys.
Skip to about 4:00 and you can see us!

I was able to get some really great prints from local artists and I am dying to hang them in my new place. I have to get them framed first but, they’re just amazing. I’ll post pictures once they’re framed and up.

I’m looking forward to the cons that are in my new area. Anyone have suggestions on which ones I should try and attend?

Once Upon A Time

I moved across the country to Kentucky so I could live closer to my parents only to find out, four days later, that they’re being stationed in Alabama instead. After an emotional morning, I came to grips with it and planned (ish) the 6 hour drive to Alabama. Now that I’m here in Alabama, I can tell you that I LOVE it.

The place I stayed at in Kentucky offered free WiFi but there wasn’t a spot in the entire place that I could actually connect to.. So, I ended up spending a lot of my time playing some indie games on my computer. I also beat Mario Kart 7 on my DS and am about halfway through the first Lego Harry Potter game.
So, that’s where I’ve been… and now I’ll start posting about Salt Lake Comic Con’s FanX!

Here’s a preview of the geekery! :3
